Every coffee bag has its own story. Where they are manufactured, where they end up and the writings and logos give us an idea of where they came from, the farm they were at and how the coffee beans are grown at those farms. All unique and educational.
Coffee sacks are manufactured in Kolkata, India. These plants grow from seed and take about 4 months to maturity. From them we get fabric, firewood, food and while being similar to cotton, uses much less water in its production as well as pesticides. This fabric is compostable and is used in a variety of landscaping needs as well as packaging. The farmers grow jute as part of a rotation of crops that grow on the same land thus making it more fertile and more profitable to the farmers. These fabrics are then sent as packaging to coffee plantations and farms to be used as packaging. Coffee drinkers craving for the best coffees import these coffee beans which come packed in these sacks. The coffee roasteries unfortunately once they empty the coffee sacks have to be creative in reusing these sacks but a number of them, unable to recycle them, gets thrown into landfill. We at Avani Creations go and collect as many coffee sacks as we can and then clean and dust them off and have them repurposed into recycled products.
Each and every one of these bags is different - could be the print, the lining, the style. Great for gift giving and everyone that buys one of our recycled totes is truly being green without much effort.
When we clean our coffee bags we collect a lot of coffee beans that we hate to throw out. So we came up with this idea of attaching a small bag with the beans. Anyways, we have some recipes for scrubs that you could make at home. Look for the recipes in our BLOG section. These are raw beans and should not used to make coffee please. Have some fun making scrubs and creams if you are adventurous. We got these recipes from the internet so what better way to gift something that you have made with our coffee bags.

The panniers come with grommets to secure them while riding and also with short and long handles to take them when you park your bikes. All our panniers are dual-bag panniers.
CLEANING: Spot cleaning is possible. If there is a spill, I have used it in the washing machine on a delicate cycle. Turn the bag inside out so as to not have the writings fade away as they are all water-based dyes used in the printing of the logos. To get it back to its original stiff look, I have sprayed some starch on it and ironed it back to its normal look, if that is what you want eg. for aprons. For bags once you fill it again with things it just goes back to normal.
RECYCLING. It is a good idea to recycle what we can ourselves. All plain jute sacks can be used for landscaping, in fact it is much better than the plastic barriers used for landscaping. The bags I have used to grow vegetables i.e. tomatoes in them or it could be used to put plants in them or just store your bulbs in them. Sometimes when I have excess sacks that I cannot use I have had gardeners come and take them to cover plants and shrubs.
